As one of the world’s largest man-made urban forested areas, Gauteng offers plenty of world-class golf courses to choose from. For golf closest to The Peech Hotel we recommend the following courses, available for booking online and open to non-member guests. Our team will gladly assist with booking tee times and transfers as needed. For busier weekend periods we recommend requesting a caddy or golf cart in advance. It is considered normal procedure to tip your caddy in cash at the end of your golf round (R300-400 is the recommended amount for 18 holes).
Joburg’s boasts a moderate climate year round, and golf can be enjoyed throughout the year. During the warmer summer months (Sept to March) we do suggest morning golf games to avoid afternoon lightning storms, which typically clear the course.
Located within a stone’s throw of the hotel, the Wanderers Golf Course is situated right next to the International Wanderers Cricket Stadium, making it one of the most central courses in Gauteng. The original course layout was designed by Bob Grimsdell, with championship tees tucked away in every corner. With a long-held reputation for a convivial 19th hole Wanderers has an exceedingly friendly and social membership.

The historical Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club was established on the current premises in Linksfield North back in 1909. This PGA Affiliated club welcomes both day visitors and members and, like many other courses, allows you the option of either playing nine holes or all 18. The Royal Johannesburg has both a clubhouse and “The Old Oak” restaurant, both highly recommended for refreshments or relaxed family dining before or after a game.
